Roberta is a self-taught artist who has been exhibiting regionally and nationally since 1995.
In creating the Child at Play series Roberta was interested in conveying the exuberance and sense of freedom that children find in play. As part of recreating these feelings from her own childhood experiences, she also wanted to express the unique physical sensations that each different type of play produces.
In addition, Roberta was challenged by the idea of producing the works from a child’s artistic perspective. She has tried to capture the loose style, expressive brushwork and imaginative use of minimal detail and bright colors typical of children’s art.
Roberta was born in New York City, but Chicago has been her home for many years.
